Outrageous Accountability

Picture this: You skip hanging out with your friends. You don’t head to the amazing esports lab, or the incredible music production studio.  Instead you head to a study table in the open forum where you join classmates to compare notes on a science and discovery project. Here you are, accepting responsibility and showing up, for your classmates and most importantly for yourself, doing hard things together. That’s the type of outrageous accountability we champion at El Paso Leadership Academy (EPLA) East.

Compassionate Accountability

Accountability is a life skill that pushes us when we can’t see the strength within ourselves. It’s about trying again and staying committed. Here at EPLA East, we understand the power of accountability.  It’s why we work hard building community and why we love how small we are.  We know everyone  – and everyone knows us.  We remind each other how far we’ve come and where we’re going.

Because we are a small, close-knit community at EPLA East, we have time to give every student individual attention and help set personal (and yes, accountable!) goals. We have  power hour everyday, making sure you’re on track or revising how you might reach an objective. Our teachers and staff model accountability and positive reinforcement, using social-emotional learning practices and we continue making connections all day long.

We’re In It Together

There’s a far more powerful force than even teachers and staff holding us accountable: peers. At EPLA East, we have a wide variety of great sports and clubs you can join.  Plus, we have essential programs that specifically connect us: our middle school CRSHH and our high school House System

CRSHH stands for Collaborative, Responsible, Smart, Humble and Hungry – you know, basically an acronym for accountability. In our high school House System, students are sorted according to traits built upon CRSHH values. They work together to earn points for their House (yes, prizes are involved!), represented by animals from Mexican culture that also represent values we hold. Again, accountability is a crucial part of this success – you don’t want points taken away from your team because you were late to school!

Accountability Makes Great Business Sense

Project Learning is a very important part of EPLA East, too. We built our school on the idea of a successful business model: thriving workplaces work and play hard together. At our engaged public middle and high school, you learn how to delegate, supervise, and yes, even compromise- all part of a healthy and accountable team.

Last but not least, our Entrepreneurship Program is a four-year-long curriculum teaching you how to run your own business.  From ordering supplies to hiring employees to making sense of leases, accountability weaves throughout this exciting program.
